Some interesting comments on ESPNews today, the question was what happens if you don't get below the cap? Teams will get fined and lose draft picks.. The commentators were saying that a team like the Redskins might not care about that, it would essentially become a luxury tax.. I'd be interested to see if Snyder has the balls to test the NFL on this..
As for the team in '06, the thread I started Tuesday about what we would look like didn't scare me all that much.. We'd keep 18 of 22 starters, depth would be a major issue but it's not like we had great depth (Cory Raymer anyone?) in '05 anyways.

Are the Eagles gonna benefit the most from this?

Probably. Espn.com is reporting that the Eagles are likely to be more aggressive this offseason. They'll have their choice of some pretty good free agents come Monday. Ugggg, I so want to keep the Eagles in the NFC East basement.

I really don't know how this will all come out to tell you thurth. I read that players and agents will have a hard time getting deals do if the CBA is not renewed. First it will be a buyers market and also agents don't wanted to tie a player up in a bad deal with a uncap year's coming! The fact NO one real knows but the team egg heads!

I have no doubt that every team is going to have a tough time dealing with free agency. However, we know a few things: (1) some teams (like ours) cannot sign anyone of significance in free agency, (2) a lot of teams (like ours) are going to have to let good people go to get under the cap, (3) only some teams can afford to sign free agents (i.e. the Eagles), and (4) those free agents will sign somewhere (however long it takes to get deals done).
So, unless one of my premises is wrong, the Eagles should benefit.

I just not sold on that! Nothing against you but it seems some how the FO and Gibbs saw this coming and know more then we do! I could be wrong but look at all the players lining up to do thier part! Like in the Great depression the people that kept thier head made money not lost! The thing that I see here is it is going to be a big buyers market. There is going to be a lot of players with very little money out there...can we agree on that? Also agents as well as players may or maynot wanted to sign contracts with big money player like Danny S out there in 07! The one thing that gets me is if nothing is done by monday and the cut come down look at all the players without jobs? I would think Upshaw would be in the hot seat? Those players most likely maynot find money from other teams that they would have had if things were the same as in 05! The owners can really show restraint and get some great deals this freee agentcy!

The skins will take a step back in 2006. we are going to have to cut alot of good players and wont be able to sign a FA'a to help our team out. This is another sign that pro-sports is all about the money. The owners and players assoc. need to sit in a room and settle this and come to an agreement that some where in the middle. It just makes me sick that we finally has a decent season and next year we will have to take a step back. But i guess the skins front office can only blame themselves with all those big FA signings a couple of years ago for over the hill players.
Such doom & gloom. And what's wrong with pro sports being about the money? That's why it's "pro." Good thing, too, because that means that smart business people can devote full time to preparing for that eventuality and put a plan in place. The Redskins won a Super Bowl in a strike season. I bet the Joe Gibbs team comes out on top again!
Stand back and watch the moves the front office at the Redskins and other teams (and the union) make to cope with this and enjoy the show. It's the game between the seasons.

Am I the only one who blames Vinny for our present cap problems?
He is, afterall, solely responsible for the fall of the mighty 49ers by doing this same crap.
There is a reason that Marty's 1st order of bussiness was to chase him out of town!
I pictured him as the evil advisor whispering in the naive king's ear during all those idiotic high priced free agent signings a few years past.
