The cap is expected to be $95 million is there is no extension. It is expected to be between $102-105 million if there is one. A new extension also means singing bonuses can be spread over six years rather than four (as they would be without it).

a new cba and being able to prorate over 6 years would instantly save a ton on rogers and lavar, among others

Colin Cowherd of ESPN is reporting the owners have voted to suspend talks with the NFLPA effective immediately. I hope the Skins players arein a restructure kind of mood

Mark Maske just said on TK's shows that its very unlikely any deal will be signed. Let the cuts begin.

Yep, just heard it on TK. No extension, no increase, no nothing. All talks have been broken off.

John Clayton is reporting, Armageddon is at hand! "the worst case scenario has happened". "Chaos has already ensued". Make your peace with the lord and................bend over and kiss your contract goodbye, etc, etc.

espn posted at 10:33 that the nfl had declined the nflpa's proposal. Unless the nflpa is miraculously pressured by its membership & makes an 11th hr. change, the cutting will pick up serious speed.
The only chance I see for a last minute deal is if somehow agents & all these soon to be free agents pressure the nflpa because they need a big contract this year. That seems unlikely though, since there are probably more players that will benefit by not having a new cba & getting an uncapped year in 07 & perhaps thereafter.
For some reason, I have some weird optimism about this, maybe I'm just stuck in the glory days of our 2 super bowls in strike seasons, but I have a feeling we'll pull off some crazy restructuring w/the Danny giving a couple 007 winks to some players to get them to stay.

let the wild ride begin. our draft is going to be more important now. FAs are going to be older and crappier from now on.
