The only problem with that is if they have a career ending/changing injury. Then you would have paid them all that money for one (or a partial) year.

True, but paying large, guaranteed base salaries in '07 would have no impact on future capped seasons, even with a career ending injury. The only impact would be on the Danny's expenses in later years, assuming my suggested restructurings with large guaranteed bases for '07, and much smaller salaries for '06, and '08 and beyond. Guaranteed contracts present a loophole in an uncapped year that only the richest of owners would dare consider.

You are right. I just don't see it happening. There would be no incentive for them to stay in shape or even step on the field again. If they couldn't manage the cap after lumping every signing bonus in one year they should just give it up.

Reaper, I'll do you one better. Instead of wholesale cuts, Snyder should restructure all large contracts and pay large, GUARANTEED base salaries for 2007 in lieu of bonus money. Bonuses would be prorated over multiple seasons while guaranteed base salaries would only count against the uncapped 2007 season. Snyder is one of the few owners with enough cash to guarantee many high base salaries for one season, and still make payroll.

30% rule prevents that.

30% rule prevents that.

Dude, you need to change your signature to:
"The answer to your question is that the 30% rule prevents it."
;)

:offtopic: Just wondering something: with Trevor Pryce on the market, would it be practical to cut both Daniels and Wynn to pick up Pryce. We could start him and Evans at DE with Boschetti backing them up. I don't know if we could save a lot (or any) money against the cap, but it's just an idea. Any thoughts?

no cba and no can do. he's been getting 7+mill for a couple years, so he probably wouldn't go for a small contract. evans is unsigned, wants to try free agency and without a new cba, probably won't be back either. Bosch is a DT and lost his #3 spot to killings last year (though killings might be gone too).

pryce is good, but i don't think there's any way he's coming here.

Thanks. Looks like we'll end up losing one (or both) of Daniels and Wynn. I like Wynn but Daniels had better production last year.

What would I do if I owned the Redskins? I'll tell you what I'd do. Two cheerleaders at the same time.

The question was what would you do ..., not who?

btw, which two cheerleaders???
