I was more upset that he wasn't getting the same sh*t that other players get when they are percieved as selfish, but whatever. I'm glad he did this and I commend him for helping out the team. He's guaranteeing this year's salary. Of course, this year's salary is already guaranteed (since it would cost more to cut him than keep him). Restructuring the deal also makes it more likely that he will be cut in 2007. Re-read some of the earlier posts and you'll understand it better. Specifically, a sizeable roster bonus owed to Portis has been converted to a guaranteed payment, which spreads the total value of the money over four years.
