I can't believe you guys are apologizing. All you did was assume that what you were reading in the local newspaper, which supposedly has a very good reputation, was accurate.
Can I just say, one more time, MOTHER F*CK the Washington Post. Every time I turn around they're writing something that is not only wrong, but disparaging.
To Mark Brunell, we should have never doubted you. It's the media we should be doubting. Jesus Christ. They're not kidding when they tell you that you shouldn't believe everything you read!
PS Rant over. This is great news. Hooray for team players, hooray for character. Hooray for Mark Brunell, and hooray for Joe Gibbs bringing him here.

he gives back 500k in 2006, and to comply with the 30% rule, that means he'd have to give back 650k in 2007. that means 1.15million bonus which can only prorate over 4 years. 1.15mill / 4 = 287.5k a year in bonus. 500k - 287.5 = 212.5k actual savings, or about 40% of what he reworks.
the 30% and extra base salary you're forced to turn into bonus (from 2007) makes restructuring much less useful now than in previous years.
This is a good analysis factoring in the 30% rule. I'm still crunching thru the numbers to see if we can get additional savings without violating the 30% rule. A $212K savings is so minimal. Gotta be a way to milk a little bit more.
Without the 30% rule we could probably turn that $200K savings into $2M.

It's gotta be either Thomas, Washington, or Jansen ... right? At least, those guys are the prime candidates for restructuring.
I figure we'll be able to squeeze roughly $3 million out of restructured deals. Is that what you get?
yeah unless gibbs really talk the religion in them.
there's a max of about 8.5mill from restructures available, i doubt we get all of it, but everyone who lasts through 2006 without a new cba is guaranteed lots of money.
8.5 from top 3 base salaries (brunell thomas and jansen). no one else has over 1.5mill base.

I apologized mainly so people wouldn't label me as a Brunell-hater. Plus, he deserves some props.
As to the Washington Post, I agree - they are starting to suck. They don't give us any news for weeks and then they come out with that trash. Ridiculous. Maybe they've contracted out the reporting work to profootballtalk.com.

they could actually give millions back and save a whole lot... how many players have done that the last 4 years though? maybe 3?

Too all you Brunell haters. :silly:
Maybe from now on you will learn to wait for the facts, or at least both sides of the store before you go and shoot your mouth off.

I just read this quote from Gibbs that said "That Mark[Burnell] and others team members are working cooperatively with us in renegotiations, Approching the matter like the veterans and team leaders that they are. We will get throught this". Sounds like a man with a plan!

I am sorry and I am the first to say so! Still think we should not let Ramsey go for a six pick as well! Never didn't like his play-Burnell. Just couldn't see why he wouldn't help the team! He is a great guy and a team leader!

Given the recent unrealiability of the Post, we might have to wait until Redskins.com posts articles before we comment on any developments in the news.

just read something on redskins.com that they just finished redoing brunells contract, no numbers but he was angry at the post for using him in their petty little wqar with the skins.
