Sheriff Gonna Getcha 02-27-2006, 02:04 AM in the future i hope you're not going to depend on free agents, cause there will be less and they'll cost more (and be older and mainly crap players too).
the only reason to toss future draft picks is if you think the union will decertify and bring the NFL to court on anti-trust issues (the draft is an illegal business practice) and the draft isn't going to exist in the future.
Both good points. Touche (sp?). :duel:
offiss 02-27-2006, 02:13 AM Hey how about some love for Derrick Hagan. I know we're not suppose to fall in love with combine numbers but the guy ran a 4.42. I always considered the guy a good football player but I had heard he was slow and the last thing I wanted was a big slow guy for the Redskins. However I was wrong. He's a big fast guy and thats something the Redskins could use. Plus with this whole CBA thing looming I think we should start thinking more about drafting talent than free agents (a la New England).
Yet the guy I would pick for the Redskins if they had a first round pick would be Florida Reciever Chad Jackson. I've had the oppurtunity to see him at the senior bowl, some workout at Dolphin Stadium, and the combine and he ceases to amaze me. Guy runs a 4.3 and I've rarely seen him drop a ball. Plus I know that all pro players have above average bodies (hell even John Hall looks muscular), but this guy has an insane amount of muscle on a 6'1 frame. Think about it he's 201 pounds, which gives him 2.8 pounds per inch (it takes about 10-12 pounds to change the index by a tenth of a point). Thats boardering on middle-weight competitive bodybuilder. On top of all this he's 20 years old which means he has huge upside. Man I'm telling you if the Redskins had a first round pick this guy would be their choice. Screw Free-Agency.
He actually ran an unofficial 4.29 40, the guy reminds me of David Boston physically only faster, and think the kid is only 20 years old.

He sounds interesting. On the one hand, the curse of the Florida wideouts makes me want to shy away from him. On the other hand, I don't really believe in curses.
Does anyone know what Sinorice's 40 time was? I know 40 times are overrated, but I am curious to know how fast he actually is.

from NFL draftscout (may be slightly outdated, i'll watch the combine day 4 in a second though to doublecheck):
WR Rank Name Hgt Wgt 40 Time Proj. Rnd
62 Gerran Walker 5'9" 188 4.30 ---
13 Johnathan Orr 6'2" 195 4.35 3-4
31 Jeremy Bloom 5'9" 175 4.36 6
1 Santonio Holmes 5'11" 190 4.36 1
30
159
180
--- Troy Bergeron 6'2" 190 4.38
92
2 Sinorice Moss 5'8" 183 4.39 1
others:
7 Derek Hagan 6'1" 203 4.50 2-3
10 Todd Watkins 6'3" 185 4.42 3
11 Greg Lee 6'2" 200 4.50 3
12 Martin Nance 6'4" 208 4.58 3
15 Mike Hass 6'1" 208 4.58 3-4
16 M Robinson (QB) 6'1" 218 4.56 4
41 Drouzon Quillen 6'6" 218 4.52 ---
only 2 other WRs are 6'6"+ (no listed 40 times)
103 Markee White 6'7" 205
196 Darryl Owens 6'6" 214
moss is a 4.4 guy (santana ran 4.27) and hagan doesn't look like a sub 4.4 guy, though again, i'll doublecheck that.
I want DQ, he's about two slots out of being drafted, and i still like orr, who i said would be the biggest fast guy ;)

Sinorce ran a 4.34 unoffically on his second run when I saw him. I missed his first run. He was actually in a pretty good group of Recievers with Jackson, Hagan, Avant, and Holmes. With that said he did a pretty good job of distinguishing himself. However as you can see from my impression with that Florida guy that I believe Jackson stole the show (except in the run and catch drill which Avant excelled)
PSUskinsfan11 02-27-2006, 01:26 PM I think those might be old but here is a link at the top five of each drill for yesterday. I would love to get Brandon Marshall in the 5th or 6th but his stock might have just went up. He came in at 6'4"+, 229 and ran a 4.5, 37 inch vert. They were callin him baby TO and it wasn't because of his problems. Greg Jennings from Western Michigan migh tbe another nice pick up in a late round.

Sean Taylor is God 02-27-2006, 01:30 PM There will be no good wr's left at 53. we should take D'qwell jackson. MD was not good this year so he didn't get recognition, but he is smart, works hard and is a great tackler. he would be MLB which would allow us to move marshall to the weak side. much like merriman this is a guy who will make an instant impact and early in the year was projected mid first round. Go Terps!
Sean Taylor is God 02-27-2006, 01:31 PM Does anyone else want bloom in the fifth or sixth? Good return guy to replace thrash and can fill in as a speedy #4 or 5 WR.
