yeah i pretty much thought that after he was given a second chance he would stop doing it and focus on earning money again. I guess smoking is more important than playing a little ball to earn some serious cash. How long is his suspension now, 4 weeks, a year, lifetime?

You know, Terrell Owens has nothing Williams when it comes to disrupting a team. I hope he can get himself straightened out.

There's irony here. When those Philly fans bood the Donovan McNabb draft pick, it was because they wanted the team to draft Ricky Williams.

The New Orleans Saints (I think this is true) gave up two draft choices to the Redskins to trade up to get Williams, over coach Mike Ditka's objections. I believe that was the year we drafted Lavar Arrington and Chris Samuels.

You got it semi right. Ditka was the one who wanted to make the trade and had final authority on such matters. Before the draft he stated that he would trade his entire set of draft picks to move up and get Ricky Williams.

The trade was:
Redskins #1 (5 overall)

Saints #1 (12 overall)
Saints #3 (71 overall)
Saints #4 (107 overall)
Saints #5 (144 overall)
Saints #6 (179 overall)
Saints #7 (218 overall)
Saints 1st rounder in 2000
Saints 3rd rounder in 2000

We of course then traded a bunch of those picks to move up to #7 and take Champ.

I thought Ditka was the one that pushed for that trade?

Brings up an interesting question though:

Would you rather him have used steroids?

At least the munchies would make him less effective. :)

While I think it is stupid to keep using, this really makes me sad. I'm a big fan of Ricky. I've liked him for a while now, it saddens me that he can't put down the weed long enough to get it together and tote the rock. I thought he had a pretty decent year and I would have liked to have seen him get his career and life back together.
