Antonio Bryant

Other than being a little younger than David Patten, what has Antonio Bryant done that makes him better than Patten? I mean Patten is on our team and Brunell did not even look at him more than 5-6 times a game. I don't see anyone else getting any more looks than that, no matter who they are. Maybe Saunders will change all of that, but the Skins are a running team that tries to hit the big one to Moss every once in a while and goes to Cooley underneath. I agree that we need another receiver, but I don't see Bryant as a significant upgrade to Patten.

In 9 years patten has put up 3700 yards. Bryant in 4 years has put up 3100 yards.

Patten is a mediocre player at best. i have no idea why people think he is a #2 WR.
Bryant is a very talented player. very talented.
But when things dont go his way, he turns into a child...

Bryant would be a better addition than Randle-El and he would be cheaper.

For all of these people who talk about receivers being "cancers" who do you recommend? Show me a good receiver who isn't selfish. In today's league a team has to take chances.

Bryant has shown that he can be a number one and that is all I care about. You aren't going to find a free agent who fits your criteria and will fit in our cap so I say sign a young talent who has the potential to go to the probowl.

The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

Go and look as the behavior of Mr. Bryant in college at Pitt and in Dallas and in Cleveland. What do you conclude that might predict for his future behavior wherever he might be?

I'll suggest "Pain In The Ass" would be a good guess...

That's not the kind of player Gibbs is looking for.

Parcells continously dug into him, cursing at him, belittling him and degrading him. After a while he had to explode. He walked away and Parcells followed him continuing to dig into him. Nobody takes that from their boss or atleast I don't.



if they're you're boss, either quit or deal with it... doing what you're told is why you're getting paid. Acting like a 5 year old isn't ever the answer and there's really no good defense to his actions. It would be entirely possible to ask for a trade without being a moron too.


Having said that, can we back off the whole character thing a bit? First, none of us knows what these players are really like. We know what their images are. Second, there seems to be an impression that Gibbs only wants Choir Boys. I have never seen any evidence of this. Yes, he does want grown men, who show up for work and are self-starters and all the qualities that any employer would want, but at the end of the day its all about performance on the field. I'm not saying Bryant falls into this category, in fact I suspect he is too immature as demonstrated by Parcells. The kid failed that little test. But, I don't believe that the Redskins expect their players to be candidates for sainthood. Its okay to have a personality.

Gibbs character thing isn't about criminal records and offseason incidents, its sabout the lockerroom and it is real. Part of the reason coles is gone is because he didn't jump to brunell's defense fast enough. Taylor has a lot of off field problems, but he's not calling out teammates, he does what's expected and plays hard. Gibbs just doesn't want negative people and cancers. If you keep a guy like byrant after he starts throwing things at a coach, it lets the players know that s**t like that will be tolerated, and that, of course, is A Bad Thing®.

You look at one incident and act like the guy is the Antichrist... GET REAL!! outside of the towel thing name another incident.

If Bryant will go over the middle, I want him. I have no problem with him throwing a towel in Parcell's face. He should have been the starter but Mild Bill brought in the 95 Pro Bowl squad to start ahead of him. He knew he could thrive, and Parcells didn't let him. As for the Browns letting him go, I think it might be because they have Edwards and Northcutt and they have a lot of other more important needs to address this offseason. I watch a hell of a lot of football and other than the towel incident, I have seen nothing to show that this guy can't be a very good #2.

Don't want Bryant, especially since he allegedly has attitude problems. Forget him.

A lot of people are questioning why the Browns are letting him go. Here are a couple reasons: Kellen Winslow will be back and Braylon Edwards is there main threat. He wasn't going to be to much of a factor in there offense or lack there of. No sense in paying a guy a lot of money who isn't going to get that many balls thrown his way. Just a couple things to think about, just don't go jumping the gun assuming hes a cancer and thats why there letting him go.
