After a while he had to explode. He walked away and Parcells followed him continuing to dig into him. Nobody takes that from their boss or atleast I don't. I don't know Gibbs?!? OK~ I do know that Gibbs style is not to Curse at his players. He respects them as men and asks them to not disrespect the team. I never heard Bryant having a problem like this in cleveland. I never said Gibbs was soft. do not misconstrue my words. I think Antonio would benefit greatly in a Gibbs run organization. Bryant has no history of drug problems, or any other problems other than this parcells thing... So what, he disrespected a team I hate... I'm willing to forgive him for that. There is no reason to believe he will do the same with us period. Schneed10 02-14-2006, 04:35 PM Parcells continously dug into him, cursing at him, belittling him and degrading him. Why in God's name are you so adamant about getting this guy when there are other WRs who would be good locker room guys and offer comparable skills??? Explain to me why Antonio Bryant is so special. I just don't get it. He's had one decent season. You know who else had one decent season? Rod Gardner. Besides, it's a moot point. There's no way in hell Gibbs will want this dude. firstdown 02-14-2006, 04:42 PM Parcells continously dug into him, cursing at him, belittling him and degrading him. After a while he had to explode. MTK 02-14-2006, 05:14 PM There are people that defend TO, so I guess it shouldn't be surprising that someone would defend Bryant. 70Chip 02-14-2006, 05:14 PM My objection would be to his skills more than his "attitude" or "character" which people seem to be obsessing over lately. If he were any great improvement over Patten, the Browns would not treat him so casually. He is a middle of the road type talent. We could do better. Having said that, can we back off the whole character thing a bit? First, none of us knows what these players are really like. We know what their images are. Second, there seems to be an impression that Gibbs only wants Choir Boys. I have never seen any evidence of this. Yes, he does want grown men, who show up for work and are self-starters and all the qualities that any employer would want, but at the end of the day its all about performance on the field. I'm not saying Bryant falls into this category, in fact I suspect he is too immature as demonstrated by Parcells. The kid failed that little test. But, I don't believe that the Redskins expect their players to be candidates for sainthood. Its okay to have a personality. wilsowilso 02-14-2006, 05:28 PM The problem is this year's free agent crop of wr's is just a joke. It's probably our biggest area of need and that puts us in a real bind. We actually have to debate over the likes of Antonio Bryant and Koren Robinson? Wow that's bad! I say sign Givens away from the Patriots. Even if we have to overpay him a little bit. He is coming from a championship team and he is a good character guy and did I mention his last name isn't Bryant or Robinson. My two cents is that nobody even brings up guys like Bryant and Robinson in the meetings because Joe Gibbs would assume they had been drinking moonshine on the job. #56fanatic 02-14-2006, 05:32 PM I have to disagree with all of you who don't think he would fit in here. You guys listen to the media and automaticly think it's all truth. The same media that is biaist against the skins. Why is he such a bad guy? I honestly can't remember ever hearing Bryant babying in the media about anything like TO. Did he get arrested for something that I missed. The tuna is a known asshole to his players, which is the compete opposite of Gibbs, who supports and deflects attention away from players. Do you guys hate on this man because he toasted our asses when he played us or something? I think he would complement moss, and is the type of player that we would look at. why? 1. He is Big, fast and has great hands. 2. He's young and on the verge of blowing up into a super star. 3. His average ypc is 14.8 on a side note: Alot of Pittsburgh players come from VA, I wonder where is he from? What is proven about that ass hole is the fact that all the players have RESPECT for him. and ask any of them and they will all play for that guy above anyone else. You didn't hear anything from the guy because it was a contract year. all head cases are like that, so they can land that nice fat contract. We dont need a "potential problem" in the locker room. He is not a pro-bowler that you may overlook some things and say, well lets take the risk. He had one decent year, so what. Peerless price had one decent year, now look where he's at. Alot of receivers have 1 good year, then go to crap. Pay a proven vet, that will work hard and not bitch about catching balls. Its a shame Trash stinks, becuase he works harder than anyone and never complains about anything. #56fanatic 02-14-2006, 05:35 PM Parcells continously dug into him, cursing at him, belittling him and degrading him. There is no reason to believe he will do the same with us period. That is how Parcells weeds out the boys from the men. Dont you remember the Terry Glen issue, when he was asked how Terry practiced, he said "she did ok", now where is Glenn playing. Glen has earned parcells respect after that incident, Brown earned nothing, thats why his ass got shown the door. diehardskin2982 02-14-2006, 06:56 PM First: A. Bryant is not my choice for Wide out. I want to draft Martin Nance from the Miami of Ohio. If you don't know who he is look him up. I want Martin to battle with Patten for the 2nd WR spot. Secondly bryant has consistently gotten better since leaving the cowboys and thats a fact. He' s been there for 2 seasons and we never heard anything negative from him since going to the Browns. When someone says, "I don't want to get him because the browns are willing to let him go," is weak. We let Pierce go explore the market, was he weak for us? How about for the Giants? I just hate people rejecting the idea of getting players for weak excuses, like so called attitude . Portis is weird, Springs had a DUI and Taylor has Gun charges.... but they are still on the team. If you can play and produce for the team in a positive manner your a Gibbs Guy. People listen to the media and think its golden. I worked for a football team and let me tell you, everything isn't what it seems. There is stuff that happens behind closed doors. The media is manipulated to say what the teams want them to say and there are Biast. please evaluate people on talent rather than character because I don't think any of you know these people personally. lastly, thats what I do play devils advocate :FIREdevil |
