Fedex seats over 90,000 now so why would he spend all that money to add a few thousand seats. If Fedex was around 60,000 or so, I could see the need.

I would think they would continue to renovate FedEx rather than building a new stadium. Fedex would only be 11 years old in 2008.

Actually, the unconfirmed additional rumor that I heard was that Synder in doing this would sell FedEx to developers who are really pushing hard to develop in PG County and he in turn would buy RFK, the land and build the new stadium and demolish RFK out of his own pocket. Don't know if this is true either, just reporting what the rumor is.

But I agree, the purpose of these new stadiums is to boast team revenues and make teams competitive in free agency. How can the SKINs get any better of a revenue set up in terms of a "newer" stadium than FedEX. and after this baseball mess who the heck would want to give up this set up and deal with the D.C. Gov?

Jack Kent Cooke was brilliant. He realized that by using his own $ to build a stadium and buy land and design that stadium specifically around capacity and premium and luxury levels that the team would rake in all the cash and would have to share it with D.C.

Snyder added to this and this is why we are the top revenue team in the NFL and other than the Yankees in all of sports today.

Maybe this time they'll think to include digital support in the new stadium so the big screen is really big.

I read in an old sporting news article that rated NFL stadiums that RFK was the best in the league, not only because the balconies rocked when people got excited but also because the seats were so darn close to the field that you could practically touch the players. FedEx is nice because of the large capacity and tremendous noise, but I don't think it will ever compare to RFK.

UM, this has to be false.

first, danny doesn't own the land in DC, second, DC is terrible place to do business even if he pays all costs, and third Dan is still something like 250 million in debt for the current stadium

there's no way you could plan buy approve and build a staduim in DC in under 4 years.

While I doubt this will happen I would love to see it happen. Having the stadium out in Landover is about the same as having the stadium in Hagerstown, whenever there is a Monday night game there is absolutely no buzz or vibe in the city like there is in cities where the stadium is in town. I have been in Pit, Indy, StL on Monday nights when the home team is playing and the city is electric. I work in DC and there is none of that electricity because the stadium is so far away. I hope someday the skins come back home to DC.
