The rumor is that the Jets may trade Abraham, but to the charges for Rivers or Breese. Probably Rivers. And if we trade him, it better be Ramsey. You cant have two first round QBs sitting on the bench. Plus if we keep him and he plays his ass off in the preseason and deserves a shot, it another QB controversy in Washington. we dont need that. Plus Arrington was a good player for our D the latter part of the season. He let the team in tackles for loss, even only playing in 2/3 the games. He should be 100% next year, plus I think he'll probably drop some weight in the offseason. It takes a year to get back to yourself after knee surgey like he had. It will be a big mistake for him to go.

Therefore I believe he will restructure his contract to give the skins much needed cap relief, and he will be a consistant part of our TEAM as well as help leading our defense to a top 3 defense in the league.

You may be working off old news. Brees had shoulder surgery and chances are he's not going to be ready for the season opener. Odds are really slim that the Chargers would be willing to deal Rivers at this point.

If Rivers isn't ready to play at this point they're really in trouble.

Ok his hearth hasn't been question he didn't play in the playoffs 2 years ago because he was hurth and he didn't had a contract and didn't wanted to risk further injury when he didn't knew he will get resign it was a bussiness decision
we as fan might not like it but I understand his point of view imagine he plays and agrevates the injury maybe to the point that he has to sit the next year or at least 8 month... no franchise tag, no signing bonus no nothing I'm sorry but it's his carrier if it ends early they don't have anything else going.... it's like the center of minesota this year Brith i think his name is he had an hernia needed surgery he said he would play hurth if the team warrenty his salary for the 2006 season the team didn't want 2 do that so he went to IR is passion but it also bussines they don't want to take risk if it going to mean no salary next year.

The franchise tag is only to secure the player before the trade it mean squad once he is traded because the team the signs him allready has agreed with the player for a long term contract.
It just buys the team more time to make it happend and not lose him in FA and get nothing for him
but it's true he wants big time money, money you don't have so I don't see it happening and I also believe losing ramsey is way better than losing LA.
ANd with the CBA not sign yet you can only spred a singing bonus for 4 years that hurths the chances of a long term big contract

shallyshal 02-09-2006, 11:56 AM John Abraham will be franchised by the Jets on Feb. 23 and then will be traded to the Redskins for Patrick Ramsey or Lavar Arrington straight up. We have been tade partners with the Jets before and I can see the same thing happening again.

i do not think it will happen unless the skins and abraham can reach some kind of understanding as to what a long term deal would look like.. same as with moss
