I spoke with Marcus Washington at a luncheon. And he confirmed to me that Sean Taylor wont miss any time and will be ready for next season. So no need to worry about our most talented player.

I certainly hope Marcus is right.

Did he have any other sentiments about the direction of the team overall?

yeah but he can persued the 3 people to remove the charges that way the DA can't do shit don't you remmember the first MJ case where he settle with the kid that pressed charges and the DA was left with nothing.

This is the same thing the DA has a case but if Taylor come to a deal with the 3 guys is overThe three people did not press the charges they are whitnesses. He cannot pay them off not to testify that is another crime in its self. Now if he is or is not convicted they may choose to sue him and in that case he could settle out of court. That was the case in the first mj case he was being sued by the other party and th DA was not involved.

Shawn Springs was there as well. And they both are very eager to get back working. They both made a speech as well, and Shawn talked about how happy he is to be a Redskin, and that he expects us to be more successful next year, with the great core of players we have.

Not knowing a tremendous amount about the inner workings of the case, that does sound a lot closer to the truth than all the optimistic posts floating around. I'm not sure if he will or will not be convicted, but if he is I know there is mandatory jail time because this is a gun crime. I don't think this is just a small thing . . . this is a huge deal and as you mention it is a felony, a gun crime, bascially big trouble. I hope if works out (and that ST doesn't make any more of these horrible decisions). Beyond that, doesn't it seem like the legal system has some really crazy sentencing poliices?

If the police weren't present when the incident occurred (i.e., the police didn't witness it), then the 3 guys had to press charges by filing a report of some kind. If so, they are free to withdraw it, I believe.

I think, though, that at a certain point the DA can take the case forward without the cooperation of the victims. I'm not a criminal lawyer, though, so I can't comment on how that works. As far as I know, there is nothing stopping ST from entering into settlement talks to foreclose civil liability prior to the criminal trial. My guess is that it doesn't happen often because defendants don't want to admit anything until the criminal case is over.

i think it is possible to go foward with the case without the victims approval, but with no cop witnesses and no victim testimony would make things hard...

What I thought happened is that the DA took statements from the three so called victims and then pressed charges and then they just changed them to three counts. If the three made charges originaly I would think that the intial charge would of been three counts. I'm not a lawyer so I'm just rambling on.

I'm not sure where you guys are getting some of this stuff, but the charges have been brought by the DA, not by the individuals involved in the incident. Any settlement with the alleged victims can only settle the victims' potential civil claims against ST. Such settlement would have absolutely no effect on the criminal case. The DA will still be able to proceed and will subpoena the testimony of the victims for trial. At that time, the victims must testify or face obstruction of justice and/or contempt charges. Furthermore, if any of their testimony differs from the statements they have already given, they run the risk of being convicted for perjury. Money may get ST a good lawyer, but he can't buy the testimony of the witnesses/victims.

Furthermore, if convicted of what he has been charged with, he is going to jail for a mandatory minimum of 3 years for each count. That's not discretionary regardless of his status as a superstar NFL player. The judge wouldn't be able to sentence him to less than 3 years for each count even if he wanted to.

I don't think either he will miss any time he'll just settle with the kids give them 100 grand each and trouble over that all this kids whant some money if it where so nobody they would had pressed chrages they'll be happy they survived.

But because he has some dough they whant to take something away its just 2 scare him off don't worry it will only hurth him in the pockets and hey next year he will sign a new multi-year deal so it won't hurth at all.

Unless--------- those kids are, Cowboys or NY or Philly rabbid fans if that's it GUYS YOU'RE SCREWED
