LongTimeSkinsFan 02-08-2006, 04:02 PM Seattle did put themselves in position to leave it the hands of the refs. Something we did a few times this year too and it bit us in the ass. Hopefully, this brings some more serious discussion about officiating and we do see some real changes, not just "committees".
And I'll make my last comment on the subject (at least for antoher 3 to 4 hours) thus:
Mediocre teams play at a level good enough to beat their opponent half the time
Good teams play at a level good enough to beat their opponent all the time
GREAT teams play at a level good enough to beat their opponent and overcome adverse officiating all the time.
With that said, we didn't have two great teams out there Sunday, but two good teams. One team didn't get the job done, the other got the job done good enough.

I am curious who you think would have been those 2 great teams. I think these were 2 great teams that did not play great games on Sunday.

wolfeskins 02-08-2006, 06:27 PM The officials didn't decide the outcome of the game. the sorry-ass SeaDucks got their butts kicked. GET OVER IT!
what game did you watch ?
wolfeskins 02-08-2006, 06:34 PM Yeah I don't get it either. The bad calls don't make up for the fact that Seattle simply didn't play well enough to win the game.
Turnovers, penalties, poor clock mgmt, dropped passes, etc., are what Seattle fans should really be upset over, and what the rest of us should be pointing to as the main reasons why they lost the game.
matty, please, come on now ? turnovers (they had 1) poor clock mgmt (they had trouble for about 1 min. with the clock) dropprd passes (i'll give you that one, steven struggled) PENALTIES (do i need to say anything)
gibbsisgod 02-08-2006, 06:59 PM I talked to the only Seahawk fan i know today and he says "I dont blame the refs, we had our chances and beat ourselves".

he's just being the "good fan".

How well do you have to play to overcome biased officiating?
It's not like Pitt didn't drop any passes, they did have 2 criticle turnovers, this nonesense on how Seattle didn't play well enough to win that game is just that nonesense. How many times does a team have to try and overcome a joke of a penalty.
Anyone who thinks that 3 or 4 bogus penalties can't deciede the outcome of a game is only kidding themselves.
If Seattle takes the lead in the second half on Pitt, does anyone really think Pitt is going to comeback in that game? There is a big difference between playing with a lead, and playing from behind.
A defensive offside's turns into a offensive holding penalty, which was not holding, which negates a 1st and goal from the 1, then Seattle is placed into a 1st and long, this allows Pitt to send in a safty blitz knowing Seattle is probably looking for a deep pass play, the safety nails Hasselbach helmit to helmit for a sack and no penalty is called, Seattle then runs a sweep to the right Alexander is horsecollared in front of the entire country and no call, Hasellbach now tries to make a big play and gets picked off, he then tackles the intercepter low and is called for an illegal block, which leads to a trick play for Pitt and a game over TD. AMAZING the refs seem to catch all these little ticky tack and phantom calls against Seattle, and yet can't see anything blatent against Pitt?
Everyone is entitled to believe whatever they want, that's fine, but there is no way I am going to be convinced that the NFL doesn't minupulate the outcome of certain games with the referee's, NO WAY!
gibbsisgod 02-08-2006, 08:08 PM pi iffy, holding bad, that blocking on MH call was from mars... roth was in though fromt he posted pics.they were looking for offensive pi, they called one on miller late in the second quarter. the only difference is the steelers got a td(disputed)out of the drive as opposed to a fg.as for the hold, put yourself in the refs shoes on that one, hes probably standing at an angle thats just behind haggans and he looks like he is getting clotheslined.the cmera angle is in front of hagans and you see that the tackle still has some position. the hasslebeck penalty was awful but it (in my opinion) was already over.
dmek25 02-08-2006, 08:17 PM this thread is pathetic! why 3 pages on 2 teams that the majority of people here could give a rats ass about?
