I know "The Ego" ;) would ban all threads discussing handshakes if he could, but maybe we can put this one to rest as moot:

Both coaches have mad respect for the other. I found it hard to believe either one would purposefully disrespect the other.

I find it even harder to believe that people get so crazy about postgame handshakes.

I was just kidding - I didn't see this one as an issue, especially, as you said, given the great respect between these two. But, it seems that it really isn't an issue since they did see each other after the game.

I wasn't singling you out, I'm just talking in general people get so freaked out about the postgame handshakes. It's pretty comical.

I would refer everyone to post #10 (http://www.thewarpath.net/showpost.php?p=150153&postcount=10). If that article is wrong, then fine - point it out. However, it says Holmgren and Cowher met up, so this is really a non-issue.

Coaches shaking hands after the game is as much a tradition as singing the national anthem before the game. If the post-game hand-shake weren't such a big deal, the coaches would just wave at each other in acknowledgement during the dying minutes of the game, or call each other on a cell phone or something.

No excuse for not shaking hands after a regular season game. If you don't, its clearly an ego thing.

Holmgren is a classy guy.

What happens at the end of a Super Bowl is highly scripted by the network and the NFL, so what's routine in every other game -- coaches running across the field to shake hands -- is totally overwhelmed by the staging of the trophy presentation, the confetti, the media, cutting away for commercials, etc. etc.

All i can say is it's pretty sad to only see one coach in the middle of the field after the game. I have no more respect for Holmgren because he didnt show one once of respect to Bill Cowher.

cannot comment upon that but i will say that i cannot think of a worse game manager coach of a superbowl team than holmgren was in this game and in his loss as a packer coach to the broncs. he is atrocious. game managemnt, clock management, being in sync with his qb--- he was really really bad.

truly an overrated coach for the big game. he was hurt by his players droppping passes. he was hurt by the penalties and bad calls. but he really stunk as head coach

I really don't think you can call Mike Holmgren an overrated coach. He's taken a team to the Super Bowl three times. True, he's 1-2 in those games, but he made it at least. I especially don't think you can put this loss squarely on his shoulders, after some questionable calls by the refs, a few dropped passes by a tight end talking trash before the game, and the defense giving up three big plays. That's not being overrated as a head coach, that's on the players.

Did you see the ends of each half? Now, whether he couldn't figure out how to run a 2 minute offense, or whether his players weren't prepared to execute it, most of the blame still falls on him as a coach. I don't remember the particulars of his SB loss while in Green Bay, but someone else mentioned that it was similar.
