wow, they are pretty darn close in a bunch of stats.

Except Martin has played two years less (11 years to Bettis' 13 years), has 439 yards more rushing, 1880 more receiving yards. and 6 more combined rushing and receiving TDs. If Martin isn't a HOFer, I don't know who is.

martin has definately put together a very impressive career, i'd say people in ny would want him in just as bad as poeple around dc want monk in.

looking at the stats, i don't see how either one of them(monk, martin) can not be voted in.

I'm I missing something or does Martin (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/MartCu00.htm) have better numbers than Bettis (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/BettJe00.htm)?

Let me throw Marshall Faulk into the mix, does he get in?

I'd say Faulk, Monk, Martin, and Bettis are all in...

Isn't Faulk like top-3 all time in combined yards from scrimmage (with Brian Mitchell in there of course too)

Marshall Faulk isn't even a question. Monk, Martin, & Bettis never dominated their position like Faulk. Plus Faulk carried the Rams to a title.

I think that Bettis should get in before Martin. The Steelers have been a contender for years on his shoulders. My problem with Martin is that I have never considered him an elite back (I guess Bettis isn't either but his teams have been consistently better).

Honestly, you could make a case that neither should make it. Monk, should definitely make it before both of them. He has the rings...

I missed something in the translation.

I thought the thread was about PK not voting for Art Monk, and the D. Patrick show. I totally missed how TO quietly crept in.

And you and I disagree sir. Art Monk deserves to be in the HOF, hands down!

to be fair skins052bgr8 was saying it was bs for TO to be considered in the same conversation with Monk and deserving to be in the HOF.

I think PK's argument was pretty weak, cuz I'm sure that for a lot of players going to the HOF, it's mainly just the area around where he played that cares a lot about whether or not said player gets voted in. I know there r a couple non-redskins here and there that I hope get in but the main ones I keep an eye out for are former great Skins and I'm pretty sure most fans of the nfl are like that. All I'm saying is if Darrel Green gets anything like the shaft job Monk has gotten, I will be among the many skins fan sending letter after letter to the HOF and it's voters and will even do protests if need be.

Curtis Martin is a HOFer.
I'd agree. Is he a better HOFer than Monk? Not even close. That's the point.

yeah I agree cuz while I think Martin is a heck of a rb, Monk retired in the top 5 in all of the important wr statistics and in some cases even the all time leader at the time and that's despite the team having several good recievers and the team running the ball the majority of the time.

Saying Harry Carson should be in is like saying Mel Kauffman should be in. These New York guys really live in a world of their own. What we need to do is pick an anti-Monk voter at random and give the guy the business for a solid year and then pick another and so on.
