It won't surprise me if we wheel and deal to get into the 1st round. If Gibbs and company target someone, Snyder will make it happen.
Arrington and/or Ramsey could be prime draft day bait.

Matty, what is the cap hit for trading Arrington? If he is willing to rework his contract wouldn't it be a better move to keep him and not take the cap hit. I mean it's not like he can't still play at a very high level. Who would you be targeting in the 1st rnd that you would be willing to give up Arrington and draft picks to get?

Without giving up a 1st next season.
Lets say we get a 4th round pick for Ramsey.
We get a compensatory 4th round pick for Smoot.
We can trade into the late 1st round. I belive Denver is the only team with 2 1st round picks. So Denver or a team wanting to trade down, We can give our 2nd, one of our 4th and our 3rd if the Redskins were high on a player. It would hurt our depth in the draft. But to get a impact player it would be worth it.
Watching the Sr. bowl practice today players the Redskins might want are sliding down. Kiper said WR Hagan from Arizona St. has slid to the 2nd and Louisville DE E.Drumville has slide to the 4th or 5th round. Tapp has also hurt in stock in practice's. So might want to stay put and take the best player.
I don't think any team is going to trade a 1st round pick for a 2nd,3rd, and 4th. In addition, I don't think we desperately need anyone that badly at this point. IMO this team needs to use their 2nd, 3rd and 4th on linemen both offensive and defensive and address the WR position through free agency.

I'm pretty sure teams cannot trade the compensatory picks. They are like money from your mother, not to be spent on buying beer or strippers.

We could always trade our first rounds from next year for the next 50 years until the draft system is changed and we won't have to worry about giving up a first ever. :D Cambell better be worth it

This draft, in my opinion, isnt very deep in terms of first round talent. Unless there is a player that Gibbs & Co. is VERY high on, I think we'll stay put.

With our cap situation the way it is, it may not be likely we'll be looking to sign a first rounder. I could be wrong.

I think trading up in the 2nd round to take S. Moss could help our offense. Especially if we pick up a bigger WR in Free Agency like K.Robinson.
WR S. Moss
WR K. Robinson
WR D. Patten
WR S. Moss
TE C. Cooley

S Moss looked good today, hagan was terrible and stovall was mia. Hali also looked good. tapp did nothing but show he wasn't strong enough to push talented OL around and not fast enough to catch up with anyone (he couldn't chase down pocket passing QBs today). Good motor and initial burst, but not a complete DE.
byrd looked really good (USC TE) and so did whitehurst (clemson QB).
