armchair jock 01-25-2006, 07:07 PM By the way:
I see no evidence of these teams being from College level; nor do I see scores anywhere near 69 - 3. When I get the interview done with Warren Moon I will forward as well. In this interview Moon was asked if he thought his Edmonton Eskimos team from the 1980s would domiante in the NFL at that time. While Moon did not even intimate that the CFL team would dominate he did say that they would have been competitive. Now, who are we supposed to believe: those guys in this room who have probably not seen one CFL game or a man who was a superstar in both leagues?
JoeRedskin 01-25-2006, 09:06 PM Sorry, I HAVE seen the CFL game and it just isn't the same. I'll go with Canuck's analysis. If Moon thinks his 80's Eskimos could have been competitive fine. But Houston is competitive - they just lose a lot.
Pocket$ $traight 01-25-2006, 09:22 PM Why are we discussing the America Jr. football league? Is this normal for the offseason?
armchair jock 01-25-2006, 09:22 PM For those who are interested. Here is Moon's interview that I talked about earlier. http://slam.canoe.ca/SuperBowlXXXV/chat_warrenmoon.html I put much more value on Moon's perspective than I do on any one's perspective (including my own) in this room - so should all of you. Without an objective, and experential perspective such as Moon's, many of you sound like the NFL is God's gift to football - hence there exists an appalling arrogance among many of you that is difficult to accept.
That Guy 01-25-2006, 10:41 PM LISTEN TO ME, MY VIEW IS RIGHT, IF YOU DON'T AGREE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND FOOTBALL!!!!!
looks like from that list the last time the CFL beat an nfl team was in the 1960s.
sorry, the CFL is full of people who couldn't make an NFL roster. in the 80s the NFL didn't pay well, top stars got maybe 1mill a year and everyone else had to have real jobs in the offseason. Now the CFL pays what 80k? and nfl min is 3-4x that. Theirs very very very little reason to play CFL ball if you can get an NFL paycheck.
I don't even know why we're discussing this, why did you come to a redskin forum to post about how amazing the CFL is? why not go to a CFL board that actually cared.

Contrary to your question: why did you come to a redskin forum to post about how amazing the CFL is? That is not why I posted my original question. All I wanted was to discuss whether anyone in this forum could see the possibility of the CFL all-stars giving an NFL team a game. It has become obvious to me that noone in this forum has even bothered to consider that the CFL could give an NFL team any kind of game. That sort of arrogance stuns me considering few in this forum has any clue about the quality of the CFL outside of what you may have heard. I have provided a list of historic games between the two leagues to show you that the CFL teams have given NFL teams a good game (and have even beaten them) in the past. I have given you a link to Warren Moon's interview about his experience in both leagues. Yet, noone would even consider the possibility that the CFL can even come close to competing with the NFL. Thus, the reason most of you are arrogant and small minded is because you won't even base your opinion on knowledge rather only on your inability to think that football exists outside of the NFL. What amazing people you are.

oh the irony... its killing me. You're theone who can't accept another point of view you so you start throwing names around? what an amazing way to prove a point. You're arrogance is just as bad as mine, so don't even try that weak and tired line. they haven't been competitive for a long time as their lack of winning in the information YOU provided shows. Warren Moon is a single player, where are all the other people seconding his opinion? cause i don't see any. I can find someone that believes in anything, one person's thoughts do not equal reality or majority.
you're arrogance and small minded-ness are stunning. truly.

It's quotes like this one that brings out the arrogance of at least this guy. I don't care two hoots if you agree with me or not; just don't be arrogant in not even thinking that it could happen. That's all I am saying. It is my last post on a site that I thought wanted to speak about football.

You're too thin skinned man. If you're going to get all sensitive over this you won't last on this site, or any site for that matter.
As for CFL vs. NFL, I'm a fan of both leagues. But with all the different rules I don't know how to effectively evaluate a competition between the two. For example, the CFL is very dependent on the pass, and setting up the run with the pass. Could they do that as effectively if they played with a narrower NFL field? Could a power running team in the NFL adapt to the 3-down system the CFL uses? Would Antonio Brown know what to do without the fair catch option, which isn't allowed in the CFL?
Either way, grow some balls dude. Canadian or otherwise

Listen:
Thinking it couldn't happen isn't arrogant. Thinking it could IS. You are talking about a league consisting of, let's be generous here, 95% of players whom could not even scratch the rosters of the worst teams in the league. That is simply a fact. You know how I know that this seemingly subjective statement is indeed an objective viewpoint based in fact? Because the NFL is about winning and if there were some stash of players somewhere that could be looted to increase a team's chances of winning no NFL team would ignore that. There would be copious amounts of players coming from the CFL. It would be a known occurence. So while you have one, admittedly, great former player we have literally thousands of talent evaluators, scouts, GMs, coaches and so forth that clearly think that there is very little to be had in the CFL. Warren Moon last played in the CFL 20 years ago. He last played in the NFL almost 10 years ago. He has had nothing to do with either as far as I know since. His opinion about whether the CFL could compete TODAY is absolutely irrelevant. You didn't ask us about 20 years ago. You asked about TODAY. Thinking that a collection of never wases could rally togerther and compete with even a single NFL team has no sense. All the important evidence proves so.
