If anything we might only have this guy for a year and if it is a successful year, I would think Gibbs will let him interview for HC jobs. I think Blache is another guy that could get some intervies, but he might be happy in DC with his current role and not want a true HC or DC job. But you never know. Maybe we lose 3 coaches to HC jobs.

Lets hope not.

i've heard alot of these coaches say that they don't really care about the title they hold( hc, ahc, dc, oc, etc...) they say they want to be around people they like, be in an area that they like, be a part of a winning organization. hopefully they get all that in washington, plus they are all being paid very well.

i'm sure one or two of these coaches may leave before gibbs hands over power to greg williams or al saunders or whoever but it will be nice to be able to promote from within the organization when this does happen. not just head coach but other positions as well.

I honestly think we are not just buying coaches, just to buy them... but investing in next couple of seasons. Listen to this senerio. We believe in continuity right? This year we hire Al Saunders and Gray. I think in the next 2years Gibbs will become our official GM, while Williams becomes the head coach, and Gray becomes then moves up to the Head coach defense.

can't help but to wonder if bringing in gray will have any influence on cb nate clements wanting to come to washington to be reunited with gray and williams.

I'm all for whats going on right now. I didn't know much about Gray, but after some research I think he's an excellent choice.
The rest of the league may not like what Dan is doing, but there gonna have to learn to love it, because its the best thing going today!!! (Sorry I slipped into my Ric Flair mode for a second there)

Jerry Gray takes over as defensive coordinator here when Gregg Williams becomes head coach, and the Chicago school of Blache, Lindsey, etc. are gone.

Hands down the best coaching staff in the league. Gibbs should be able to keep coaching egos in check for the coming season.

I think Gray will continue to be a head coaching candidate in this league, and by default the DC could fall to Blache or Lindsay.

I decided to NOT start a new thread for this to please the moderators.

Steveo395 and I were all excited about the KC free agents when we hired Saunders, but they really didnt have crap other than maybe a 3rd string QB and a damaged goods WR.

Just for fun I decided to look up Gray's players. So here is what I have found. Of this list only Crowell and Clements were starters.

Angelo Crowell (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/395941) LB RFA
Josh Stamer (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/237191) LB RFA
Justin Bannan (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/301978) DT UFA
Kevin Thomas (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/302138) CB UFA
Mario Haggan (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/395975) LB RFA
Nate Clements (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235204) CB UFA
Ron Edwards (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235053) DT UFA
Ryan Denney (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/302186) DE UFA

After looking over this list, I think Crowell is an option if Lavar leaves this offseason. Clements will demand too much money. Otherwise these guys mainly seem like depth players and special teamers. Could be interesting to see if there are any guys that Coach Gray had big plans for.

If the cap goes up to 110 million, we can afford Clements. I would love to have that guy on the squad. Crowell is also a beast who would fit in nicely.

we can use LB and DL depth, so one or two of those guys might jump over...
