It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!dmek25 01-19-2006, 02:58 PM lets get randle-el to play the part of dante hall.this is a tremendous move by the redskins.oh,boy, its great to be a fan again 12thMan 01-19-2006, 02:59 PM I guess I should have added the winking smiley to the end of my statement, but I was kind of joking during that post. I know he pretty much plays the role of the TE, but a lot of people were complaining about Robert Royal and saying that we needed a TE. People were saying that we should have drafted Heath Miller. It was a joke Didn't mean to beat you up:) I think Royal will be back next year, BTW. Royal had a couple of bad games, but he really bounced back towards the end. I think he convinced the staff that he deserved to be here. He'll definitely be back.....at least I hope. skins052bgr8 01-19-2006, 03:07 PM What does KC free agents look like this year and will we pick from that bunch, maybe for some O-Line depth, or elsewhere on that side of the ball will Saunders being familiar with that group. SmootSmack 01-19-2006, 03:16 PM It may be a stretch, but now I'm wondering if maybe Musgrave is one and done. His philosophy doesn't fit with the rest of the staffs'. And they don't need him to stick around to keep teaching them how to run a shotgun offense, I think they have figured out by now. JWsleep 01-19-2006, 03:17 PM I would bet NOBODY saw this one coming - Guess this answers the "Should/Will Gibbs get an OC" question. It should also (if there are still any doubters out there) demonstrate that Gibbs is absolutely driven to win and seemingly egoless in his desire. Also, given the scaled down offseason last year, and the money being thrown around for coaches this year, maybe JG and Danny boy believe they have found the answer to winning in the salary cap era. Quality (not star) players and excellent coaching. Pardon me while I go pray to my Gibbs idol. My sentiments exactly. And so quickly into the offseason--did you see at the last press conference where they asked Gibbs if he would relax, and he smiled that Gibbs smile and said, "well, it's a full-time thing up here..." Gibbs rules. MTK 01-19-2006, 03:17 PM Musgrave is the QB coach, he never was the OC despite what people may have thought. JWsleep 01-19-2006, 03:20 PM I wouldn't be surprised if the whole staff is back--the titles are relatively meaningless, in a sense. It's kinda like a brain trust, with certain folks having special positional jobs--Buges with the line, Musgrave with the QBs. My guess is that we get the old staff plus Saunders, though what they call it depends on how to best protect these guys from poaching by other teams. I love it. 12thMan 01-19-2006, 03:26 PM The only negative about the Saunders move is now we'll disect the hell out of this until draft day --- Mods get ready to do a mega-merge on this one!!! |
