Any update on Campbell?RobH4413 01-16-2006, 09:31 PM Has anyone heard anything about the progress of Jason Campbell. Any feelings on when he will be ready, if ever? heybigstar 01-16-2006, 09:43 PM I would say he becomes amazing next year. I think this guy is a special, special player. Big C 01-16-2006, 09:45 PM read somewhere that he will be ready to start 2007 at the earliest, hope they are wrong heybigstar 01-16-2006, 09:56 PM read somewhere that he will be ready to start 2007 at the earliest, hope they are wrong Gibbs would not have traded a way a #1 to get a guy , sign him to a 5 year contract and have him sit 2 years. Judging from the preseason, I think this guy is a can't miss prospect. Athletically: A 6'5 guy with scrambling ablility and a bullet for an arm. AND he prefers to stay in the pocket, where he can have great success staring over the D's. His throws look effortless. Mentally: He is humble and hard-working out of Taylorsville, Mississipi. He definitely had a lot of vitamin C growing up, because he is Cool, Calm, and Collected. pscott32 01-17-2006, 12:44 AM This is what gibbs said in his press conference today: Continued Gibbs: "We see a lot in practice. My impression is that he's very accurate. I think he's going to be a guy that can really roam with a football. I think he's going to make plays with his feet. I think he has a sense of what the pocket is. He'll slide. He's going to be hard to sack because he's so big. We've seen a lot out of him. "Now, he needs to play. We'll get into that. I laughingly told him, 'Take the hat off and throw it away. You're getting ready to go work. You're going to have to earn your money now.' Carlos Rogers was yelling at him, too. He said, 'I told my buddy that he has to start earning his money. The rest of us are out there playing.' Anyway, I think Jason had a year that was probably good for him. He got to hear it, see it and go through it. He probably learned a lot." It sounds like he'll be playing alot more. I'm excited to see what he can do. Ramsey is definitely gone. offiss 01-17-2006, 01:00 AM I would say he becomes amazing next year. I think this guy is a special, special player. Based on what? RedskinPete 01-17-2006, 02:47 AM I would say he becomes amazing next year. I think this guy is a special, special player. Tell me why you think this could happen in the real word??? He has not played a play in the NFL!!! ST21 01-17-2006, 05:00 AM I would say he becomes amazing next year. I think this guy is a special, special player. We drafted the guy, and all I hear is what he's not.....if the coaching staff (and since everyone in hear live a die on Gibb's word) then we should believe that this kid has sit back a year, not thrown into the fire and learned something, he's out first rounder behind rogers last year.....its time we put faith in our future.....lets base it on the fact that Gibb's think he's ready bertoskins 01-17-2006, 08:26 AM wow, I get excited hearing that from gibbs hope that we have a future superstar qb, who does not only like to run aka mike vick, vince young but also qb who is accurate and a decision maker ala brunell and brady mheisig 01-17-2006, 08:37 AM Here's a link to the complete article on what Gibbs thinks of Campbell - it's about halfway down, first half is about Brunell. Redskins.com: Gibbs on Campbell (http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=14827) It sounds encouraging. Not to read way to much into it, but it sounds to me like Gibbs has had him learning alot this past year and he might be in soon. I'd expect to see alot more of him during preseason games in the very least. Actually beating out Brunell/Ramsey for the job looks like a bit of a long shot, but who knows. I'd love to see someone young and with alot of potential leading the team. I know Brunell did a great job this season and he offers the experience and maturity of an older player, but it always bothers me in the back of my mind that we know he's not around much longer. He's just a short-term solution. I can't wait for the day when the Redskins return to the status of a real NFL powerhouse with CONSISTENCY at as many positions as possible. That means a franchise QB who will be with us most of his career, not shuffling someone new in every season. |
