Are there any good D-Ends that will be free agents this coming offseason? I dont know if we could afford John Abraham, but if he didn't sign w/ the Jet, could we?

I dont know if we could afford John Abraham, but if he didn't sign w/ the Jet, could we? John Abraham - 10.5 sack/58tkl/16 games Darren Howard - 3.5 sack/33tkl/12 games (11.0 sack / 46tkl in '04) Kalimba Edwards - 7.0 sack/32tkl/16 games Aaron Kampman - 6.5 sack/82tkl/16 games Robert Mathis - 11.5 sack/56tkl/13 games (!) <-- but probably the Freeney effect Kimo von Oelhoffen - 3.5 sack/36tkl/16 games (and 1 QB career ended) Kyle Vanden Bosch - 12.5 sack/66tkl/16 games Orpheus Roye - 3.0 sack/88tkl/16 games Abraham is the biggest name, for sure, but will want the most money as well. Most believe Vanden Bosch to be the best young talent but I suspect he will be a hot commodity. If you believe Mathis isn't just basking in the glory of the Freeney Effect, he could be a great pickup. Personally, I like the idea of a Darren Howard or Kalimba Edwards, as both are solid ends who probably wouldn't break the bank. hurrykaine 01-16-2006, 02:48 PM Mathis is undersized at 6'2", 235. I think you are spot on in attributing his sack numbers to Freeney starting at the opposite end. I would prefer one of the others. The Redskins can't keep giving away draft picks, those things are just too valuable. I agree with you on Howard and Edwards, though. dgack 01-16-2006, 04:00 PM Yeah, but isn't Mathis a RFA? The Redskins can't keep giving away draft picks, those things are just too valuable. I agree with you on Howard and Edwards, though. I believe he is, yes. My thinking was that Indy has some contract issues of their own to sort out. Like, a ridiculous number of cap issues. I can't believe that team couldn't win this year. Man, anybody who feels bad about our cap situation and where we finished, whoo... TheMalcolmConnection 01-16-2006, 04:19 PM Kampman and Howard all the way... SkinsLB5607 01-16-2006, 06:21 PM Out of that list based on skill, production this year and $$$$ Robert Mathis is Our Guy That Guy 01-17-2006, 06:16 AM mathis is too much for our cap numbers this year :( bosch may be too... kampman looks good with 82 tackles and 6.5 sacks, howard wouldn't be a bad pick either. JA is someone i hope we absolutely do not get though. High price, bad attitude. btw, on the depth charts mathis isn't a starter, but a situational pass rusher... he's good though. sportscurmudgeon 01-17-2006, 12:47 PM It would not shock me at all to see the Eagles trade Jevon Kearse this off-season. That Guy 01-17-2006, 06:25 PM jevon is a guy that williams really liked... |
