I hear Maurice Clarett is available, but he could be out 10-20 with a pulled felony.
Will Redskins acquire a BIG back?dgack 01-16-2006, 01:47 PM I hear Maurice Clarett is available, but he could be out 10-20 with a pulled felony. hurrykaine 01-16-2006, 02:19 PM I think Nemo is the big Short yardage back...and they try to re-sign either Betts or Cartwright, but not both. SUNRA 01-16-2006, 06:05 PM Nemo? Nemo or Manuel White. Manuel White was injured for the entire season but should make some noise during the preseason. Nemo must hold on to the ball. Ladell Betts should pack his bags. He gave us some joy but more headaches and dissapointment. Beemnseven 01-16-2006, 06:40 PM Nemo or Manuel White. Manuel White was injured for the entire season but should make some noise during the preseason. Nemo must hold on to the ball. Ladell Betts should pack his bags. He gave us some joy but more headaches and dissapointment. Betts is no more than a spot-back. He's good for 12-15 carries just to give Portis a breather now and then. I'm not sure what his cap implications are, but if jumps ship it's no great loss. Same goes for Cartwright. Both of them aren't as reliable with fumbling the ball either. ST21 01-16-2006, 06:54 PM I think Portis would be fine to continue in the short-yardage role. What we don't have is a good lead-blocker. Sellers is a decent blocker at the edge of the line, in a TE type of spot. Cooley can block decently, but he's not great at it. We need someone that can pave the way for Portis coming out of I's or offset-I's. If we had Randy Thomas healthy for the playoffs, I bet this thread never would have started. When he is healthy, the Redskins get out on the edge behind him and move it very effectively. He's great at pulling, and you don't need much of a lead-blocking back when you can get Thomas into space. He was one of the biggest reasons we made the playoffs this year. I love Clinton Portis....he's my favorite Skin....but is it just me or does it seems like he's always stummbling when he hits the line of scrimmage, just seems in Denver he ran more up-right....... I think we our line needs to be stronger..... skinsWill 01-16-2006, 06:56 PM I dont post on this site much i think this is post #4. but ive only seen a few people talk about Nemo as our big back. from what little i saw of him i was really really impressed the guy is so big (250) and he gets so low cause hes only 5'11. (Mike Alstot is 6'1 and 248) Now i know the Citadel isnt exactly a big time college but 581 carries for 2,638 yards, 25 touchdowns and 47 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns all that behind a lousy offensive line. We have the big back we need. But i agree with everyone in saying the we NEED a legit #2 and a dominant DE and another corner Pocket$ $traight 01-16-2006, 07:01 PM They do not need a big back. They need a pass rusher, #2 receiver, and possibly another veteran QB in that order. Skins_4_Lyfe 01-16-2006, 10:03 PM Their names are Manuel White Jr., "Nemo" Broughton, and possibly Sellers. skinsguy 01-16-2006, 10:10 PM Betts is no more than a spot-back. Both of them aren't as reliable with fumbling the ball either. 12-15 carries a game is pretty good for a change up back! That is exactly why you have Betts or Cartwright. I don't believe you get rid of both of them. Maybe one or the other, but I believe we also need to get Nemo into the equation and see if we can develop him...because as far as size is concerned, he's exactly what Gibbs would love to see in the lineup! That Guy 01-17-2006, 06:21 AM nemo, sellers, white... we just need to see them play some. bettis is done and not changing teams, davis is done and not comign back here and dayne is actually pretty crappy. |
