H4172teh5k1n5 01-15-2006, 11:08 AM I have been reading some posts on this and other forums since our loss today and am appalled by the ideas expressed. I can't believe what I'm reading. Coach Gibbs should "give up his clipboard". Portis was a bad trade. We lost, get over it. We got farther than a lot of us thought we would this year. Seriously, did you really think that we would be Super Bowl contenders in the first 2 years? Really? Next year we will have our shot (or should). I said that from the day I heard Gibbs was coming back. We have improved a little every year and will be back to full strength next year after a season of crippling injuries. When we lost Patten, we took a big hit. After he left, we had no #2 WR (other than Cooley). And yet Gibbs still took us to the playoffs. Brunell showed us that he still had life in him after some of us booed him off the field last year. I think that he may be done after this season (he's not getting any younger) and the jury is still out on Cambel, but Gibbs and Williams will find a way to get us there. We don't have the biggest superstars or the best athletes, (and one we do have we might lose to jail). Look at the positive. We made it to the playoffs. That's nothing to sneeze at considering our last decade (and then some) of football. the fact that some of you are talking trash about the players and the coaching staff after the injuries we suffered this year pisses me off. I'm ashamed to call you fellow "fans" (if that's what you call yourselves). I would hate to think that some members on this board are fair-weather. Talking about how much you like this player or this coach one week and then the next talking like they ruined our whole season. We got beat. Not necessarily by a better team, but by a team who had a better game than us. Once we find our #2 receiver (be that Patten or someone else) and a consistent QB, we will be the team to beat in the NFC. Until then I will continue to cheer as loud as I can for my team, good, bad, or ugly.
carldoc 01-15-2006, 11:37 AM I'm not going to "blame" anyone but there were a few things that IMHO would have turned this game around. First on the list is the dropped interception that Carlos Rogers had. If he makes the pick, it's 10-0 Redskins. The Seahawks went down and scored on that drive. A 14 pt. swing. Second, being pinned in our end most of the first half forced the play calling to be conservative. Gibbs wasn't going to take a chance throwing and giving Seatle a short field to play on if the ball gets batted and intercepted. Third, 3 tunovers and not being able to take advantage. That hurt! Hassleback also got away with a few bonehead throws that could have been picked off. Things just didn't line up for us BUT we made the playoffs, and got to watch our boys play 2 more games and I DIDN'T SEE THE COWBOYS THERE! We need to make a few changes off season. The coaching staff knows that and Dan Snyder, what ever you think of him, wants to win and will try to give Gibbs what he needs to keep the playoff runs alive.
SUNRA 01-15-2006, 11:51 AM All year we have argued, debated and speculated on how this team could be better. No one and I mean no one saw the spectacular turnaround from 6-10 to 10-6 in just two seasons. For all doubters and haters of certain individual players on this team you should look in the mirror and ask yourself if sweeping Dallas and Philly, eliminating the Bucs and watching a team never give up with no 2#or 3# receivers is a team you can be embarrassed over? I can look in the mirror and know that this team showed the most resilience than any team in the NFL. 5-6 to 10-6 is beyond luck. It goes to the essence of Joe Gibbs and his ability to use what he has. Now just wait, and see the adjustments that will be made at the wideout position and defensive line. The puzzle is almost complete and I will continue to wear my Redskins coat and hat until the Superbowl is played just to let everybody know I am as proud of this team as the Seahawks fans are of theirs. Hail to the Redskins.

Yeah, well that is the difference between winning and losing in every game isn't it? There are a few plays that could go either way and if you make them you probably win. Rogers also go smoked by Jurevicious when he tried to jump a route (probably trying to make up for dropping that pick) but he is a rookie and hopefully he will come back much improved next season and put in a season like DeAngelo Hall did in his second season.
tomahawk134 01-15-2006, 12:29 PM I have read some of the other FORUMS and the suggestions about what HAPPENED ... there should be NO blame period ... The Redskins has a GREAT YEAR ... and I expect NEXT SEASON to be even better for our REDSKINS ....
Sammy Baugh Fan 01-15-2006, 12:47 PM I blame my Son Elijah and may try my first human sacrifice to make things right with the Football Gods.
He picked up his Yellow Skins Towel from where it had helped us win for 6 straight games. Last night he wore it on his head breaking or winning streak.
Hang'ns too good for him!

I agree totally. We should all continue to cheer and not lay blame. We had an outstanding year. Yeah we came up a little short, but there is so much to look forward to next year. We have a team full of character and most of all we look to have great stablity in the coaching staff so we can continue to build.

No, Sammy, it's not your son... I wasn't able to wear the lucky T-shirt that I wore over the last 5. I let the team and the city down... No need to sacrifice your son.
