Should be interesting to see what some of these guys cost us to resign. Clark would likely fetch $1-$2 million per season. I'd like to keep D Evans, he makes for a very solid 3rd DE. Albright is a must to resign, he's a good long snapper, didn't make one mistake all year long. Chris Clemons is key for 3rd down pass-rushing, Campbell and Jimoh are great special teamers, and Omar Stoutmire played pretty well down the stretch. Killings was a solid 3rd DT too.
We should be able to create enough cap room to keep the guys we want from this list. But who would you want to see stay, and who should go?
bedlamVR 01-15-2006, 09:27 AM Albright is loyal too i can see him resigning his usual 1-2 year contract as long as he wants to keep playing . Othe than that Clark is a must but there may be upgrades to be had there. As for the others I would like Evens, Clemons, Killings, Jimoh Cambell and Jones as a prospect to return . The rest I would be happy to see back but not cut up if they wanted to go else where or if the team thinks they could get better and younger with their roster space .
Just a thought
BrudLee 01-15-2006, 11:43 AM Because of the trade to bring in Jason Campbell, we're without a #1 pick this year. That's going to mean that we'll likely retain a lot of our current special teamers, because there will be less "young" talent on the team. Holdman, Clark, and Cartwright may get offers to play elsewhere, but none of the other players showed enough on the field to get pllaged.
Another reason we may keep our free agents is that (yet again) we'll keep most of our assistants - if not all of them. One of the ways depth moves around in this league is that, for example, the linebackers coach gets a coordinator position elsewhere. He pillages his old team for good effort players that know his system (see the Bengals defense and the ex-Skins that Lewis grabbed). Our guys are all getting paid, and will likely stick around.
SUNRA 01-15-2006, 12:10 PM Why isn't Cory Raymer on the list? If not he will be cut.
I think we let go the following players:
Patrick Ramsey
Taylor Jacobs
James Farris
Cory Raymer
Pierson Prioleau
Ray Brown (retired)
James Thrash
Antonio Brown
Ladell Betts
Matt Bowen
Walt Harris
Robert Royal
John Hall
and of course Lavar Arrington if he doesn't renegotiate his contract.
My immediate picks in the FA pool are:
RECEIVERS
Antwaan Randle-El
Brandon Llyod
Eric Moulds
DEFENSIVE END
John Abraham
Lets see in the off-season if RB Manuel White and Nehemiah Broughton can boost our running game. If not let them go and find us a good RB in the draft.

I agree with who's gone with the exception of Prioleau and Betts.. Randle-El isn't a true #2, he's a #3 and we have that in Patten.. Moulds would be great if he would accept being a #2, Lloyd is good, I'm partial to David Givens as well.. I don't think we have the $$ to get Abraham without some serious renegotiation of some contracts..

Like you I love Ladell Betts but when we really needed him for the last two weeks he was a dissappoint. His injuries have been a constent problem and I don't think we need him considering Nehemiah Broughton and Manuel White should be back.
I agree with you about Abraham. I didn't know about Givens and if Randle El is a true 3# we need him deseperately on kickoffs and/or punt returns. I almost forgot to put John Hall on the list. Why did we cut Nick Novak?

Oh how could I forget Hall and Frost, both of them should be gone.. Betts does have his share of injuries, true, but I think in his role he is very good.. I like the 3 headed monster of Portis, Betts and Cartwright.. With the exception of the killer fumble against the Chiefs, Rock played really well this year.. I don't know if Nemo (who had fumbling problems in the preseason) or Manny White will be an upgrade over Betts.. Randle-El struggled this season as a #2 opposite Ward.. He'd be an upgrade over our return units (VASTLY needed) but I don't know if they'll bring him in just for that. I like Givens because he's big, fast and coming from the Pats is a winner..

I think you are right on with Givens, he would be a perfect fit and I would love to see him in Burgundy and Gold. I also agree on Randle El, he is an explosive returner, but - and I haven't seen many Pittsburgh games - he is little more than a #3 receiver. He only had 35 catches for about 550 yds this season and I realize he is in an offense that runs a ton but the Redskins need a bigger target that can provide another threat in the red zone. Randle El is just a poor man's Santana, that isn't what we need. Don't forget that Reggie Wayne might also be available, though he would probably be more costly than Givens. He and Santana were teammates at Miami, though, so that might be a fun (if unlikely) reunion.
skinsfanthru&thru 01-15-2006, 02:12 PM Clark, Evans, Clemmons, Royal, Albright, and a guy who gets a lot of flack on here Jimoh are the players out of there that the skins will try the most to resign. There is definitely gonna be some roster fluxuation to get some younger, speedy guys who will be special teamers first other than the potential signing of a new de and starting wr. when does free agency begin again? is it march1st or 2nd?
