The Offense Was Too Conservative

I guess I don't understand why we're calling for heads to roll when we closed out the regular season with the #12-ranked offense in the league, a 3000 yard passer, a 1500 yard rusher, the #2-ranked WR in the league, and two H-Backs with 7 TD's each. Not to mention breaking several team offensive records.

Two underwhelming showings in the playoffs from a fatigued and gimpy team don't make me question the offense, they make me question our depth.

Totally agree on Hall and the kicking game though. Frost was pretty decent today but has not been terribly reliable this year.

Who's calling for heads to roll?

I dont want to stifle debate but this thread is not just ill timed it is ill concieved and borring.

People like Ramseyfan & Offiss are all to keen to come out of the woodwork and bitch and whine when we loose making them look like geniuses because they would have done things so much differently and we would never loose a freaking game . Its just attention seeking.

Can we not just enjoy the fact we got to the divisional round of the playoffs when so many were predicting doom and gloom last offseason (Dr Zs 4-12 prediction comes instantly to mind). There will be plenty of time to air your whiney ass oppinions between now and next season . Don't get me wrong I don't want to stifle debate and I don't think everything Gibbs and co do are flawless we can clearly do better there are still two games to play and we came up short but just for a moment can we not just stop and as many posters have done congratule the team for thier accomplishments this year .

Thats my thoughts I know they are going to offend but I dont meen offence I am just sick of this kind of posting and I am sure I am not alone

Apparently, people forget that I was one of the sole people saying when we were 5-5 and 5-6 that we were a good team (when 99% of the people here said we were average or mediocre). Apparently, people forget that I have also praised Gibbs and Co. to nth degree. Apparently, people forget that I have said what a fantastic season this was. Apparently, some people know how to write, but not how to read. No offense.

You can talk about the team, just don't say something someone else doesn't want to hear, that's all.

Put on your cheerleader outfit and grab your pom pom's and tell everyone how great we were today. That should make a lot of people happy. :hater:
Damn right offiss you hit the nail right on the head!!!!!

We need another WR. Our passing offfense is really bad. Not these two games. but the last 12. THe passing offense is bad. We only get 91% of the yards the opposing defenses give up through the air on average. So if a team on average gave up 200 yards in the air we on average this year would get 182. We are a below average passing team. I want a dominant WR that can play at number 1 but is a number 2. I want a reggie wayne. I do not want reggie wayne but A reggie wayne. Someone that we can get or trade for that is proven or do some magic in the draft. I want a great number 2.

I agree that we were a bit conservative in the first half. If we'd thrown the ball more...

However, if the OL had been fully fit, if we had a legitimate #2 receiver to pull ofthe double teaming, if we had a fully fit and effective DL, if we had a fully fit secondary, if we had someone who could kickoff into the endzone, if we could pin opponents deep with punts, if we didn't miss crucial FG's... if all that had been true, we'd have won the SB this year.

Fact is if's won't get us anywhere. If we'd thrown the ball more in the first half, maybe we'd have covered the spread, but basically the if's caught up with us today and we just never REALLY looked like winning. Just about everyone said we'd run out of steam and had to play on emotion alone. Sooner or later it catches up with you. To be honest, even if we'd won this one, we'd almost certainly have lost the next one. We are out of energy. Those guys, including the coaches, left everything on the field and I salute them.

I won't have a bad word said about JG, especially on the play calling. Next season with a good offseason program and maybe some fresh linemen on both sides, we are going to be strong. What JG has done in 2 years is amazing to me, especially considering the mess that Turner and Spurrier left us in after so many great years under Gibbs' first reign.

Go Joe, Go Skins and Go Ramseyfan and get drunk. Skins played a great season and gave us more than we expected. Enjoy the memories and look forward to more of the same.

I think you hit it on the head. Everyone looked exausted.
but I'm happy. We've come a long way.

Well they looked ok against the Giants. I think Brunell's knee came into play and when Brown had to come out and Raymer went in he looked horrible (in fairness he is a center). I do agree that the Thomas injury was important, but I don't think he was the main issue. I think field position played a huge part in yesterdays game. When Antonio Brown let punt after punt bounce at the 20 yard line and roll inside the 10 that really hurt.

Yep. Gotta put in the fact that Clinton Portis was playing injured the past couple of weeks; there was no James Thrash (which is a good third down receiver); and Brunell never really looked the same after that knee injury against the Giants. I thought Ray Brown did a good job in place of Randy Thomas, but certainly Randy's absence played a factor with our protection.
