We weren't playing the same way.

If you're saying that the games weren't being coached the same way, you're flat wrong. If you're saying that the players aren't quite executing like they were a few weeks ago, I would agree with that.

I'm not going to pout about this game. You can pout if you want. Yes I'm disappointed, but I'm not going to be one of those fans who insist craping on Joe Gibbs.

Look, I don't want to start an argument. I will keep my posts civil.

I'm not pouting. I started a thread about the conservative nature of our offense. I also have posted in other threads what a fantastic job Gibbs has done with this team. Anyone who has read my posts over the past few weeks knows that I have given the coaching staff a lot of credit.

That said, I'm not going to say everything is perfect, because it is not.

It's funny how easy it is to point the finger at the coaches and the playcalling.

It's the age old debate, what's the problem, the playcalling or the execution?

All I know is when we were shoving the ball down people's throats the playcalling wasn't a problem.

They were being coached the same way. I totally agree. But, as I said earlier, when your best run-blocking guard AND you star tailback are either out or totally banged-up, I think the game-plan should change.

It's been that way for weeks though.

We are what we are, a smashmouth football team.

If Brunell is dropping back 30-40 times, that's simply not our kind of game and doesn't play to our strengths.

Again, I would like to state for the record that Gibbs has done an outstanding job with the team. I would also like to remind people that I was saying that we were a good team when we were losing (so please don't peg me as a hater). I would also like to re-state that our playcalling might have been fine two weeks ago, but when you lose your best run-blocking guard and star tailback, you should re-focus your offense.

If I recall correctly (and I may not be), Portis wasn't seriously banged up until last week. I agree that Brunell dropping back 30-40 times usually doesn't play to our strengths, but when our running game was as bad as it was at the half (Portis averaged 2 ypc), it was time to re-focus.

I think we did re-focus in the 4th quarter. But, our 3rd quarter playcalling didn't reflect what Gibbs is so good at ... adapting.

I agree that we were a bit conservative in the first half. If we'd thrown the ball more...

However, if the OL had been fully fit, if we had a legitimate #2 receiver to pull ofthe double teaming, if we had a fully fit and effective DL, if we had a fully fit secondary, if we had someone who could kickoff into the endzone, if we could pin opponents deep with punts, if we didn't miss crucial FG's... if all that had been true, we'd have won the SB this year.

Fact is if's won't get us anywhere. If we'd thrown the ball more in the first half, maybe we'd have covered the spread, but basically the if's caught up with us today and we just never REALLY looked like winning. Just about everyone said we'd run out of steam and had to play on emotion alone. Sooner or later it catches up with you. To be honest, even if we'd won this one, we'd almost certainly have lost the next one. We are out of energy. Those guys, including the coaches, left everything on the field and I salute them.

I won't have a bad word said about JG, especially on the play calling. Next season with a good offseason program and maybe some fresh linemen on both sides, we are going to be strong. What JG has done in 2 years is amazing to me, especially considering the mess that Turner and Spurrier left us in after so many great years under Gibbs' first reign.

Go Joe, Go Skins and Go Ramseyfan and get drunk. Skins played a great season and gave us more than we expected. Enjoy the memories and look forward to more of the same.
