Yea statistics say we have a .5^(3)=.125 or 1/8 chance of winning the Super Bowl, but I think this radio person is calculating the way we have been playing late, homefield, etc.

That's assuming the winner is chosen at random, which isn't the case.

Here are the current odds for each team winning the superbowl and conference championships:

Odds to win 2006 Super Bowl - February 5th - All wagers have Action.
Carolina Panthers 8/1
Chicago Bears 15/2
Denver Broncos 7/1
Indianapolis Colts 7/5
New England Patriots 5/1
Pittsburgh Steelers 11/1
Seattle Seahawks 13/2
Washington Redskins 19/1

Odds to win 2006 NFC Championship - All wagers have Action. No Parlays Max $500
Carolina Panthers 7/2
Chicago Bears 9/4
Seattle Seahawks 5/6
Washington Redskins 7/1

Odds to win 2006 AFC Championship - All wagers have Action.
Denver Broncos 7/2
Indianapolis Colts 5/8
New England Patriots 5/2
Pittsburgh Steelers 5/1

Okay statisticians, enough of the textbook calculations. I DID specify "all other things being equal"...which we know they are not. These odds above look a little closer to reality, although given that it seems that the Vegas bookies all believe everyone else is just going to wither up and die for Indy, I'm surprised that they have given such short odds for everyone else. Just remember Joe Namath when all odds were against him, "I guarantee a victory in the Super Bowl." And he won.

looks like bets in the offseason are the worst for the bang for you buck. http://205.134.167.60/lines/lines.cgi?device=browser&site=sbcom2&sport=599

We are a 1:20 shot next year. so these sports betters think we have a 17.5% shot of winning the super bowl this year or next year. and a .625%

wooooopps edit i forgot to finish my sentence :D

.625% shot at winning these next two bowls

IMO, that means they're making like twice the money on the off-season bets. They're compacting the odds or something. Any gaming enthusiasts have an explanation?

Regardless of the result, I'll be happy. I do wish I'd put money on a combination bet (I had a hunch about 6 of the 12 playoff teams) and a straight up bet on the Skins. However, no point worrying about how much I may have won.

No, whatever happens later, I'm a happy Skins fan because of the massive turnaround JG has inspired. And not just because of where we are now. We are most definitely headed in the right direction. I'd say or odds drop sharply next year and stay low for the next few years. If JG can educate DS in how to keep this franchise running smooth and choosing the right coaches (GW?), we should be challenging for at least the next decade.

I'll still be pissed off if we don't win the SB though! :towel:
