Palmer's Injury

Ok well I was looking at the report, and it says that Palmer's injury was "devastating and potentially career-ending". But the article goes on to say that it is possible that he returns at the start of next season. So I am a bit confused why if it this injury can be career-ending, how can he return next season. Either way its a terrible situation for the kid because he has soo much talent that is yet to develop. And to give it a Redskins spin, does this effect the situation we have with Ramsey, now that the Bengals will need a backup, and Kitna is free agent.

I think they were saying that with the amount of damage to everything that was damaged, if the surgery hadn't gone as well as it had, his knee would not be the same. It's weird how the first report had it as a clean tear and everything had a good outlook and then it comes out about all the damage to the ligaments, the cartiledge, the knee cap, and everything else. it's a lot of work coming back from major knee damage so I wish him the best with his recovery.

I wouldn't have bet on Kitna leaving Cincy before the injury. It seems even less likely now.

Regarding Ramsey, I just don't think other teams view him as a hot commodity. I think they see Patrick as a back up, no more. I was convinced that Patrick was a good fit for Gibbs before last year. Gibbs obviously feels otherwise. He might have worked out back in the day when a quarterback could stand in the pocket for much longer. Gibbs now realizes that on pass plays the clock is ticking and in order for his passing attack to succeed, he needs a qb that can buy time with his legs. The defenses are much more attacking in that regard. At any rate, Ramsey is more valuable as sytem-knowledgable backup in Washington for one more year than he is as trade fodder.

The Cincy connection is interesting in that M. Lewis should have an opinion on Ramsey one way or the other having coached here in '02. I don't suspect his memories are all that fond.

lewis sure has been fast to eat our rejects before (ohalete (FS), bauman (CB/gunner), watson (RB)), so it wouldn't surprise me, last i heard the jets and dolphins considered using ramsey as a starter, but i'm not sure they're willing to give up enough to make it worth considering (he is a good backup for us after all).

I agree with all you guys, in that Ramsey is a good backup here with the Redskins, but he may request a trade after the season is over, as he has done in the past. We all know that Ramsey wants the starting job, but like we have said, he is a good backup. I personally feel it would be in Ramsey's best interest to remain a Redskin, because Brunell is quite old and his knee is not doing that well, so Ramsey could become the starter easily in a system he is familar with, rather than starting over for a different team.
With that said, assuming that Ramsey does not opt to stay with the Redskins and the Bengals do not re-sign Kitna, how do you all feel about Kitna as our backup? Of course this likely will not happen.

i think ramseys' best bet is to get traded .this coaching staff has already proved they have zero confidence in his ability.quarterbacks in the nfl are almost always a hot commodity,at least the ones who can play.i dont think anyone has really seen enough game action from ramsey to determine if he can really succeed in this league

Hopefully Palmer will come back strong as ever, it would be a shame if this injury screwed up his very promising career. But wouldn't that just be the Bengals luck?

No kidding. Hadn't thought about that but this is just like the footballs gods to strike Cincy down. They ought to diband the team and start over. Too much bad karma or something.
