I just can't figure out why so many people try to second guess what Gibbs does. We have had how may losing seasons while he was away and its taken him how many years to get us in the playoffs? If I would have ask anyone on this sight that if we were playing in the second week of the playoffs would we have had a succesful season? I bet 99% would have said yes and some would have been happy with a winning season and not making the playoffs. We have achieved more than most would have expected. So lets stop second guessing the coaching, QB, players and the ownership and start applauding our achievments. I for one after Saturdays game will applaud our achievments win or a loss but of course would rather applaud a win.

TREMENDOUS POST!!!! Totally on the mark. I think many people on this site cannot understand all the second guessing BS. Particularly in light of the INCREDIBLE turnaround this season!

Here's one that gets on GW pretty good, I'm sure there are more. Perhaps TAFKAS who is our resident archivist can dig up some more. :)

Yeah, that's the one I found as well. The point is, alot of Redskins fans have gotten so bitchy, that they can't appreciate us being in the playoffs. They can't appreciate the fact that we've actually advanced in the playoffs. Last year, I remember people who dumped on Joe Gibbs said "I'll give him three years to turn things around." He's done it in two seasons! Very few of us expect the Redskins to even make the playoffs this year. Here is a history lesson for ya: Joe's offenses in the past were never the type that would score 40+ points in each and every game. The 1991 season was probably the closest that he came to having an "Indy" type of offense. And just remember....back then we had 3 outstanding receivers on our team who were difference makers. This season, we've had only one guy like that. For us to have games where we've put up 30+ points with only one true deep threat has been outstanding.

I guess it's just the Snyder mentality that some Redskins fans are going to have to out grow.

Joe NEVER said he would have an instant turnaround that would succeed, then dismantle, and start over. That is a stupid plan for anyone (however popular it might be) with a low success probability. He DID say he would return the Redskins (by the end of his tenure) to a competative, proud team in the REDSKIN TRADITION that fans could be proud of for years to come. Good plan.................he is ahead of schedule

Brilliant! Absolutely right!

I'm not saying it wasn't a poor decision by Brunell, it was, but it wasn't a great effort on TJ's part either. The defender outplayed him for the ball. Top flight WR's don't let that happen. At the least, TJ needed to play the role of defender in that situation and try to knock the ball away.

In Jacobs defense, Brunell never throws to him so he was probably the most surprised person in all of Florida when he saw Brunell throw across the grain. And noone is ever going to confuse Taylor for a top flight WR.

I think the offense makeover is going very well. Add another top-notch WR and we are set. Maybe some depth on O-line.

Doesn't even need to be top flight. I think we'd settle for productive. With Patten back and another productive guy we'd be set even with an injury.

The offensive made HUGE strides this year.

They finished #11 overall, produced a WR that was 2nd in the NFL with 1483 yards and a RB who was 4th in the NFL in rushing with 1516 yards, both team records.

I think the offense is fine.

The offense has indeed made enormous strides this year. What we need to see is a more consistent offense. One week our offense is lighting up defenses and the next, it's struggling to get rushing yards. I don't think the offense is fine, but it's pretty decent.

The one guy who'd I'd love to see in a Redskins uniform to improve our offense would be TE Mercedes Lewis of UCLA. He's a good blocker, runs a 4.5 40, and is an excellent receiver. Can you imagine a two tight end set with Cooley and Lewis?

Unfortunately, he'll be gone by the time we pick (the last pick of the second round).

I think we've been pretty consistant in regards to the running game...especially the last several weeks of the season, but overall if the offense can show a little more consistency when it comes to scoring about 21 points per game, then we're golden. No matter what happens to us in the playoffs, we still have plenty to improve on, but we're going in the right direction. Changing the offense would not only be unwise, but counter productive.
