This is a great year for increase in salary cap, something like 15 million. So if we have to part ways with LaVar, which is too bad, then it's the time to do it. Personally I think there will be significant interest in him in the league, though maybe not at his current salary. A lot of teams need the big force that he offers, whereas the Skins are more designed for constant presssue.

To quote Clemenza from The Godfather:

Taylor Jacobs? Won't be seeing him no more.

Matt Bowens a likely hit. As are any of the following:

Walt Harris
Omar Stoutmire
Ryan Bosghetti
Aki Jones
Cory Raymer

I think any defensive player is constantly under scrutiny with Gregg Williams. He is constantly on the lookout for new people to push established players.

As for Lavar. I think they would have been willing to extend him grace if he had not gone crying to the media. To Gibbs, I suspect that's the equivilant of 10 drunk driving arrests.

I would not cut Hall. Compitent place kicking is to hard to find out there. Look at the cowgirls troubles in that area this season. I know we get frustrated by Hall's injuries, but when he's healthy he is a pretty solid kicker that doesn't often miss many makeable kicks.

I would agree with this. We'd need to have a solid replacement lined up if cutting Hall is going to make any sense. Hall hits the FGs when games are on the line, and he's pretty money from long range. I just meant to say he's a candidate for being axed, since it would save a million or so and he's always getting hurt.

I'd only axe him if we really REALLY needed the cap room.

I simply refuse to believe that this coaching staff can't find a place for LaVar. The guy isn't whining about being a Redskin and asking for a way out. In fact, he has said repeatedly that he wants to remain a Redskin. I can't see an attitude problem from LaVar; far from it, he's got a great attitude. Marvin Lewis managed to make LaVar into a stud so why can't Williams? I like both Williams and LaVar and will ultimately support whatever decision the team makes, but I'm troubled by his absence from the field on 3rd downs and expected release.

Wasn't Antonio Pierce saying the same stuff at this time last year? How he loved being a Redskin and wanted to remain a Redskin? I'm not necessarily saying it's the same situation this time around. I just tend to be sort of skeptical when players bring the fans into their "negotiatons" with management. Almost like we're hostages. Player X says how much he loves the fans and the city and suddenly the team is in public relations crisis mode.

Speaking of someone I HAVE given up on. Taylor Jacobs.

Every week someone says he'll have a breakout game. Time is up Taylor.

Rack. The job that Joe Gibbs did this year is even more impressive when you consider he had to clean up the mess that Spurrier left behind, i.e. bad draft picks like Jacobs.

Good point, but the difference with LaVar is that his contract dispute has been resolved and he still says that he wants to be a Redskin. Plus, he has hinted that he might not want to play football if he is not playing for the Redskins. I give Arrington the benefit of the doubt and believe that he genuinely loves this team. That is what hurts me; even though he's made some mistakes (i.e. hiring the Postons as agents and making those statements to the WT) he loves the team but he might not be here next season.

But honestly, do you believe that if he had a phat offer from say the Chargers he would rather retire than take it?
